ADMITTED TO PROBATION
■ The theft of various sums of money and oil, to the value of £12 7s 4d, while he was in the employ of Stevens Motors, Lower Hutt, was admitted by William George Wood, 37, when he appeared before Mr. H. P. Lawry. S.M., in the Petone Court yesterday.
Detective F. N. Robinson said that Wood was employed by Stevens Motors between October, 1936, and December, 1937, and he was in charge of the service station and the stores of oil. The thefts were committed between June and December, 1937. He made a practice of duplicating the requisitions for oil, and so had a stock of oil for sale for his own benefit. He'collected £4 7s 6d from four different customers by selling oil, and the value of oil he had taken was £7 19s 10d. While in the employ of Stevens Motors he was in receipt of a weekly wage of £5 ss. He was a married man living with his wife and child at Lower Hutt.
