The Minister of Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone) returned to Wellington last night after visiting his electorate and the Native land development schemes on the Wanganui River.
The Australian Trade "Commissioner (Mr. C. E. Critchley), accompanied by Mrs. Critchlpy and Mr. Jack Critchley, and the Assistant Trade Commissioner (Mr. James Payne) will return to Wellington from the South Island tomorrow. ;
Mr. E. R. C. Gilmer, Mayor of New Plymouth, is visiting Wellington.
Mr. C. H. Weston, K.C., D.5.0., president of the New Zealand National Party, who visited New Plymouth during the weekend arid addressed a meeting of members of the New Plymouth branch of the party, has returned to Wellington.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) will leave Wellington this evening for a visit to Thames, Mercury Bay, Coromandei, Whenuakite, Tairua, Waihi, Paeroa, and Te Aroha. At Paeroa Mr. Semple will turn the first sod of the Paeroa to Pokeno railway. He is expected to return to Wellington at the end of next week.
Mr, G. Wallace, of the N.I.M.U. Insurance Company, left Wellington for the north by this afternoon's express.
Mr. F. Ansell, of.the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, Ltd., will leave Wellington for the north by the Limited express tonight.
Mr. J. M. Hardcastle, general manager of the "New Zealand Herald," left Wellington for the north by this afternoon's express. .
Mr. C. P. Hainsworth, general manager of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, accompanied by Mrs. Hainsworth, will leave Wellington for Auckland tomorrow, where they will join the Aorangi on a tour overseas on business relating to the exhibition.
A motion of sympathy with Sir James and Lady Elliott in the recent death of their daughter, Miss Jessie Elliott, was passed by the board of the Wellington District -Free Ambulance at its meeting today. . . '

Professors T. A. Hunter, Vice-Chan-cellor of the University of New' Zealand, and G. W. yon Zedlitz returned to Wellington this morning from a meeting of the University Senate held in Dunedin.
Colonel E. Puttick, D.5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, formerly Quarter-master-General of the New. Zealand Military Forces, who went to England in 1936 to take a course at the Imperial Defence College, is. returning by the Akaroa, -due at Wellington on January 31. ' ' ■-. ".
The Rev. G. B. Stote-Blandy, curate of Epsom, London, since 1935, ha« accepted sole charge of the parish of Hawera for two years during the absence on a special mission of tha vicar, Canon Malcolm. 'After graduating at Cambridge, Mr. Stote-Blandy was ordained deacon in 1935 and prie-" in 1936.
