SOUTH-EASTERLY WINDS

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Light to moderate south-easterly winds. Weather fair to fine.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing 24 hours, is for light to moderate and variable winds. South-easterlies will predominate about and to the north of Cobk Strait and northerlies elsewhere. The weather will still for the most part be fine and warm, but there will be much low cloud, and in places fog, in the early mornings. J

The anticyclone responsible for the spell of fine weather during the last week still covers New Zealand, its centre this morning being to the east of the South Island. Except for early morning cloud, and in places mist or fog, fine and warm conditions have continued, with light and variable winds.

Auckland's weekend weather was beautifully fine With light northerly breezes. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 78.8 and 56.2 degrees respectively.

Wellington has had some early morning cloud, but the weather otherwise has been beautifully fine and warm. A light northerly wind prevailed on Saturday, but since then the wind has been south-easterly in direction. On Saturday 11.2 hours of bright sun» shine were recorded, the maximum temperature being 74.1 degrees and the minimum 55.9. Yesterday's sunshine totalled 10 hours, and the maximum temperature was 71.8 degrees, with a minimum of 53 degrees.

Christchurch had a dull morning on Saturday, and occasional sunshine in the afternoon, the wind being a moderate to fresh southerly. The maximum temperature was 68.5 degrees and the minimum 51.6. Sunday was fine and warm with a north-easterly breeze, the wind changing to the south-west about 10.15 p.m. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 69.5 and 57.1 degrees respectively. The weather at 9 a.m. today was cloudy, with a gentle northerly breeze.

In Duncdin it was warm and sunny on both days. A light southerly wind was blowing on Saturday morning, but otherwise the wind has been a light one from the north. It was overcast at 9 a.m. today, with, a -light northeasterly breeze.
