WAITOMO CAVES
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—During the recent holidays I paid a visit to our famous Waitomo Caves, It was my second visit to them, and I can compare them with the Jenolan Caves of New South Wales. My first visit was a few years ago, and I well remember being shown all the cave where the glowworms arc. I fully appreciated the sights, and as a New Zealander I recommended ours as superior to Jenolan Caves. On my recent visit I was vei'y disappointed with the shortness of time in the cave, and am sure most of the cave was omitted, yet the charge was the same as last visit. I had an Australian friend with me this time, arid-.specially
took: him about during the holidays. The Tourist Deportment should -show its patrons tht sights to the: fullest oxkml, as it docs not knov/ who is in l.bc; party nor the distance they come to our .shores. —I arri, etc., DISAPPOINTED. I. This letter was referred to the Minister in Charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (the Hon. F. Langstone), who Maid it was riot possible to comment on the correspondent's complaint without having full particulars of the visit to the caves. To his own knowledge, the boauty of the caves had not altered during the Jost twenty-five years, but certain factors might prevent some parties from being shown all of the beauties. I
