A striking improvement in the Abater; supply .has taken place since restrictions were placed upon garden iioses, and recordings show that the pressure: has increased gradually until on/Saturday at 1150 ajn. it was reading 1001b; to the square inch,'a remarkable ire.covery from 2Mb to the square inch recorded on Friday- As a result, inconvenience to hospitals and hotels has been overcome, and the [supply is now more than adequate to: imeet the ordinary requirements, of the; borough. The total prohibition on: hoses, however, will be maintained', over one or two days, so that it may be ascertained if the pressure will remain consistent.'
It is essential that a consistent pressure of at least 601b to the square inch be maintained for fire-fighting purposes.
