KILBIRNIE FURTHER IN THE LEAD

OUTRIGHT WIN FOR WELLINGTON COLLEGE nrTk pnvs

\JUU JJV7 J. kJ With the completion on Saturday of the fifth series of matches, Kilbirnie have gone further ahead in the contest for the Wellington Cricket Association's senior championship. They scored a win on the first innings from their nearest rivals, Institute Old Boys, and now have a lead of 11 points. Wellington College Old Boys were the only side to register an outright win, their first of the season, and they did this at the expense of Karori, who were dismissed for 46 and 144. The match between Wellington and Hutt held much of interest as a result of a declaration by the captain of each side. Wellington were left with 75 minutes in which to make 195 runs for an outright win and were unable to manage it, having to be content with a win on the first innings. Midland staged a good performance against University, scoring 320 in reply to University's first innings total of 265, and this enabled them to take five points. The principal contributors to Midland's score wereß. O'Neill (111), and R. Buddie (83), who, incidentally, were the top-scorers of the afternoon. '
