WELLINGTON SUMMER MEETING

EXCELLENT FIELDS ENGAGED IN MOST EVENTS

(By "Rangatira.")

Premier among the fixtures at Trentham during the season is the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting, and though the fields for die opening day of this year's gathering tomorrow are somewhat lighter than usual, the quality is of a standard that should ensure keen and exhilarating sport. The. club anticipates the largest attendance this week since the boom days immediately, tollowing the war, and all the prospects point to a most successful meeting. This expectation is enhanced by -the large and enthusiastic attendances that there have been at recent meetings throughout the Dominion, for the Trentham course is. probably the most popular in the land with the rank and file of racegoers. A particularly excellent field has been secured for the star attraction of the meeting, the Wellington Cup, the leading mile-and-a^half handicap in the Dominion. The acceptance comprises the best class of horse at present available, and a fine and spectacular contest may be awaited. The Telegraph Handicap, while of unexpectedly small dimensions, should also provide a capitalrace, and the Wellington Stakes adds classic tone to the opening day s programme. .' ....■.., '
