AUCKLAND GIRL WINS
DEANNA DURBIN CONTEST
The Deanna Durbin voice quest, which attracted more than 800 entries from the four centres in the Dominion, was concluded at Wellington last night. The finalists were Miss 'June Barson, - Auckland; Miss Faye Walker, Wellington: Miss Gwyneth Brown, Christchurch; and Miss Beryl Baggs, Dunedin
Miss parson, aged 13, who sang "11 Baccio," the song made famous by Deanna Durbin. was announced as the national winner. She is to sail for Australia on the Wanganella on January 20 and is to make a series of personal appearances in Sydney on behalf of Universal Films.
The four finalists are to appear at; the St. James Theatre.tonight, tomorrow night, and on Wednesday night.
