SAMOAN AFFAIRS

DEPUTATION COMING

DISCUSSIONS WITH GOVERNMENT

Advice has been received that a deputation of prominent Samoans, headed by Mr. O. F. Nelson, will arrive in New Zealand this week for the purpose of discussing Samoan affairs with the Government. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) stated . this morning that he was not quite certain when the deputation would be received, but a meeting would' be arranged in the near future.

As far as he could see, said Mr. Savage, there did not appear to be any great need for the deputation to come to .New Zealand, but they were travelling at their own expense and the Government would be glad to discuss their problems with them when they arrived. The Samoans had as much right to bring a deputation to Wellington as any other section of New Zealand, he added.
