NEW CITY ACCESS

OVERBRIDGE STEEL

HEAVY SECTIONS ARRIVE

After a considerable delay on ao count of the difficulty of'obtaining certain of the heavier sections of structural steel for the spans over the railway tracks, the major construction 'of the overbridge from the Hutt Road to Aotea Quay is under way again. Though this heavy construction was delayed, the formation of the side supports to the ramp approaches has been continued, but it will be some months before tHe work is complete, probably about the middle of the year.

By that time, it is hoped, the road construction along the 50ft motor way from the northern end of Waterloo Quay will be completed, though certain formalities still have to be made final between the Government, Railway Department, Harbour Board, and City Council.

The road formation will b"e of the same type as the pavement laid about the railway station, that is, a concrete foundation six inches in depth, with somewhat heavier haunches, surfaced 'with Trinidad asphalt, giving an excellent approach road to Wellington.
