A NEGLECTED MAIN ROAD
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—When riding to Ngaio and Khandallah a feeling of sadness comes over me to think that with all our increased education and opportunities such little progress has been made to improve the natural access to this part, by a less dangerous main road. We have to realise that with the increased traffic and population that will come in the future a serious problem is in front of us. I would like to ask those in authority to give more consideration to this matter than they have done in the past. I consider the present stream of water flowing near the road could be culverted over at reasonable expense and converted into a main thoroughfare for all future road traffic. The cost would be repaid by additional surrounding land values which would more than repay interest and principal upon the outlay and prevent unsightly structures being erected. —I am, etc., ' T.L.V.
