FINE AND WARM

PERFECT WEATHER

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Light southerly winds, turning to northeflies tomorrow. Weather line and warm.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for light to moderate and variable winds. Southerlies will predominate at first, but winds will turn to the north tomorrow about and south of Cook Strait. The weather will be fair to fine and warm.

Since last night a decided change in pressure distribution has taken place. Yesterday's westerly depression has disappeared, and an intense anticyclone is now centred over the eastern Tasman Sea and covers the New Zealand area. In Westland and in the far south yesterday some scattered rain accompanied the northerly to westerly winds which prevailed, the latter being strong in places, about and south of Cook Strait. Elsewhere the weather was fair to fine, and this morning it was fine generally with light and rather variable winds. Temperatures have become warmer everywhere. Auckland continues to have fine and clear weather with a southerly breeze. The maximum temperature there yesterday was 74.3 degrees and the minimum 54.6 degrees.

Wellington had a moderate to strong northerly wind all day, but the weather was fair to fine and 11.9 hours of bright sunshine were recorded. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 65.8 and 56.7 degrees respectively. The weather was beautifully fine this morning with a gentle southerly wind.

• In Christchurch it was cloudy, warm, and sultry yesterday, with a light northerly breeze that changed to the south-west about 10.15 p.m. The maximum temperature was 71.4 degrees and the minimum/49.4. The weather this morning was calm, fine, and hazy.

Dunedin's weather was changeable and for the most part cloudy. Rain totalling five points fell during the afternoon when the wind changed to the south. At 9 a.m. today it was fine and clear with a gentle southerly wind.
