MINISTER'S TOUR

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WESTPORT, January 11.

The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb), who has been making a comprehensive tour of the Buller electorate, today inspected the pakihi development lands, and expressed approval of what had been done and pleasure at. the results achieved.-

The Minister also took the occasion to discuss with Captain M. Schmitt, master of the German steamer Gera, the question of- harbour improvement, with a view to accommodating larger shipping, Captain Schmitt being firmly of the opinion that if, a floating basin scheme were carried out large overseas ships could be berthed there free from all risks of floods.
