RELEASE ON LICENCE
TERMS NOT CQMPUED WITH
MAN SENT BACK TO PRISON

AUCKLAND, This Day,
Arrested in Wellington, Alfred Norman O'Meara, a labourer, aged 42, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to failing to comply with' the terms and conditions of his release on probation by failing to notify the probation officer of his, intention to leave the Auckland district. He. was also charged with, robbing at Auckland Phillip Andrew' Moore of £2 10s and a watch and chain, of a total value of £17 10s, and with using personal violence. On the latter charge he was remanded until January 17. Referring to the first charge, the Probation Officer said that one of the conditions-of the accused's release on licence from Hautu Prison Camp on October 1 was that he took out a prohibition, order. Complaints had been received that he had been drunk on several occasions. He was arrested at Wellington on January .6. At the time of his release he had 19 months of a six years' sentence to serve. Sentencing O'Meara to a month's imprisonment, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., told him that his licence would be cancelled and he would have to serve the remainder of his sentence.
