POPULAR BATHS
RECORD SEASON EXPECTED
The popular places in the Hutt Valley during these summer days are the Petone and eastern bay beaches and the swimming baths at Lower Hutt and Petone.
The two baths will, it is expected, easily establish record attendances for the season. During December at the Riddiford Baths, Lower Hutt, 7611 persons (2464 adults and 5147 children) attended; the total was 2529 in December, 1936.
The attendance in December at the McKenzie Baths, Petone, which have to compete with the popular sea bathing, ■ was 4658, of which about 20 per cent, were adults. .
Up to the end of December the takings at the Riddiford Baths were £129 17s 2d, as compared with £86 6s lid in the corresponding period last year, which was affected by the epidemic restrictions, and £88 4s 5d in 1935.
The record season was 1934-35,- when the takings were £206 *2s 4d, Already this season the sum taken amounts to over £150, with the best part of the season yet to come.
