I .The office at the Ferry Wharf where inter-island passengers' luggage was formerly checked is now being converted into a new police station, and the. Railway Department is handling all checked luggage. This arrangement has been come to between the Wellington Harbour Board and the Department. Over 90 per cent, of the checked luggage by the inter-island ferry steamers was in any case, inwards or outwards, handled by the railways. The new station provides checked luggage accommodation which is separated from the Ferry Wharf only by Waterloo Quay.
