JEWISH LAD HAS A FALL

Most of the Trentftam horses - had plenty of racing over the holidays, so' that, though the Wellington Meeting is only ten days off, they were required to do very little in the nature of serious work this morning. The .weather; was fine and.the tracks, in splendid order., The plough was mainly in request. ' ' ' ; " The only pair of H.. Telf.Qr.d's horses, to gallop' were Cricket (C. Burgess)! and Accomplice (R..A. Dodson), who did an easy three furlongs iri 39.. 2-5 sec. Haupongi (G. .Flood), who", was sore after his race at Manawatu," followed them at a distance. ■ ",.' 1 .'
Sunee (L. T. Nesbitt) had; to use the two-year-old Yours Truly : (R. : h'. Hitchen) as a mate over half" a .mile, and after the youngster had gained, a big early break he came along to finish within a length of him in 51sec. Despite his disappointing efforts over the holidays Sunee looks as well as ever.
T. R. Georgd's horses were practically all cantered only. A pair to go faster were Quexona (W: Doyle) and Protectress (A. E. Bennet)", the former leading throughout five furlongs and finishing four lengths in front in liriin 7 2-ssec, the last half-mile in 53 3-ssec. Cuddle was back on- the track and she did a couple of rounds of pacing.
Rockingham (B. E. Edwards)}, who looks brighter than beforethe holidays, ran an.easy seven furlongs, .coming; home the "last three furlongs in. 37 r-5. sec. "Lady lyric (Ri A, Hawkings) took 40 2-ssec for.three furlongs,.an'd' White Lady (A. S.ager) rah half .a'mile. .in. 53sec. Camilla.'Home (F.'Power) did the last half-mile of seven furlongs in 56sec. . . ■ ......
On the grass, Lustral (P. Burgess) and Siegmund (J. McCauley) .ran .a mile together in lmin 57sec, coming home the last half in 56sec, with Lustral half a length in front. Siegmund, who looks well despite his hard racing, was inclined to hang, but he did this before the holidays. Lustral is to contest the highweights at Trentham and will be ridden by Burgess. •Siegmund's engagement will depend on : "the weights. •' ' ' .......
The only jumping ' was done:, by Jewish Lad, who went over one-fence cleanly and then failed to rise at the next, giving his'rider, J. Nicolson, a shaking and several abrasions. ; '
A number of the yearlings for the National Sales have already arrived at the Sale Stable. Those on hand include the lots of Messrs.1 G. M.-Clime, A. E. Preston, and A. S. Higgs. Mr. Higgsy as usual, is in charge at the stable. The customary' parade will be held tomorrow weeki ' ' ' ' ■■' - '
