MR..W..H..CORRIGAN
One of the best-known musicians in the South Island, Mr. William H. Corrigan, died at Christchurch yesterday, aged 74 years. Mr. Corrigan was interested in printing and publishing and was known in that business throughout New Zealand.
Halifax, Nova Scotia, 'was the birthplace of Mr. Corrigan, who was the second son of "the late Mr. John Corrigan,, of the 16th'' Foot. Bedfordshire Regiment, and formerly of Wellington. Mr.1 Corrigan was a solo clarinetist of distinction in Dunedin and Christchurch. He was a member of . the orchestra of the' Dunedin South Seas Exhibition, 1889-90, and conducted various bands in Dunedin and later in Christchurch. For some years, he was conductor of St. Mary's choir in the latter city. His wife has also won distinction in amateur musical circles, having been accompanist to the Dunedin Choral Society and the old Orchestral Association, Dunedin.
Two sons of the late Mr. Corrigan are Messrs. Desmond and Anthony Corrigan, Christchurch.- Mrs. Higgins, Christchurch, and Miss Dorothy Corrigan, Wellington; are daughters. He leaves also a brother, Colonel A. A. Corrigan, Wellington, and two sisters, Mrs. Reginald Skerman, Wellington, and Mrs. P. J. Fennell.Wanganui.
