MAN FOUND SHOT
DEATH IN HOSPITAL

THAMES, This Day.
; A shooting tragedy occurred at Tapu, about 12 miles from Thames, on the coast, this morning resulting in the death of Douglas McKenzie, "licensee of the Royal Oak Hotel at Tapu. It is understood that McKenzie has been in the habit of shooting cats which came about the premises, and this morning about 8 o'clock he took a pea rifle and went, out with the intention of shooting a cat in a paddock at the back of. the hotel. A short time later he was 'found with a bullet wound in his head.Dr. T. E. Miller wafe called from Thames, but McKenzie died in the Braemar Private Hospital at 11.30 a.m.
