Youssipof, who has been sore for some time past, has been let up for a spell. Orate, a favoured Railway candidate, continues to gallop better than anything over sprint courses at Te Awamutu.
The Night Raid three-year-old Settlement has been gelded and st present he is on the easy list.
The two-year-old Phil b'jrst a hoof during the racing at Woodville, and he will-■ therefore now have to miss the holiday meetings. Lady Lyric had a slight swelling after her race on the first day at Woodville and it was deemed inadvisable to start her on the second day. Kinloch, who recently joined H. Pritchard's team at Trentham, was sore after a gallop last week and he has not been down to the tracks since.
Formerly one of the laziest workers at Trentham, Galteemore has become one of the most willing in his trials. He seems to revel in plenty, of hard work and racing. Padishah was to have left for Ellsrslie today. He will be ridden in the Auckland Cup by P. Atkins, which will mean several pounds overweight. Further riding engagements made for the Waipa Meeting tomorrow are: H. N. Wiggins, Mazir, Stretto, Desert Wings, Sir Abb, Trouvaille; L. Dulieu, Shetland.
The well-bred Sir John died in Tasmania in his first season as a sire, and some of his foals have appeared recently. It is reported that the sale of the hurdler Top Hat to a Waikato sportsman has been completed, the price being 250 guineas. H. Telford is most anxious to learn how T. R. George is going to train Deficit to win races, and he will not leave his post these days till the Lackham gelding has worked. But Deficit does not gallop. The ex-Queensland horse Pamelus has returned to the stables of H. Dukes at Caulfield, after spelling at Bacchus Marsh, says a Melbourne report. His full-brother, Bull Tax, accompanied him.
Ruling Star, a three-year-old gelding by Chief Ruler from Phrosa, is shortly to join F. D. Jones's team at Riccarton to be trained for his breeder, Mr. G. F. Moore, of Kai Iwi. Pelmet, who was nominated bojth at Ellerslie and at Wingatui, is to be sent south in company with Dividend. Their stable-mate, Love Affair, has been eased up until after the holiThe five-year-old New Zealand-bred Iliad—Skydream gelding Newhaven, who was owned by Mr. W. R. According to a Hawera report the steeplechase mare Indiscretion has been recommissioned and is being exercised on the roads. She appears to have made a complete recovery from the injury that ktent her .from the active brigade last winter, and if she stands another preparation she should more than pay her way.
