A NEW TRAINING PLANE
Mechanics at the Rongotai. c Aerodrome are today assembling a new type' "of training plane, the- ■ Fleet Trainer, manufactured by. the Fleet Aircraft Company, Canada. It Is ex : pected' that the work will be completed by tomorrow, and the machine will-then, be put ,dn test. The- Fleet Trainer is a.'biplane, seating two, and powered with.'a': 125 h.p. radial engine. It has a top speed of 110' m.pii., and a cruising speed of 95 m.p.h. The machine has several features new to New Zealand, aviation, and is equipped with blind-flying ..instruments, in. both cockpits. The wingt^read is 28 feet, and .an'unusual feature is the type ofconstruction, of the top whig, in one length, giving additional strength.
Mr. Walter Deisher, of the Fleet Company, arrived in Wellington yesterday, and proposes to.meet aero club members throughout New Zealand. Mr. Deisher, who has 1500 flying hours to his credit, is founder and president of the Ottawa Flying Club, and vicepresident of Laurentian Air Services, Limited, which, operates machines for charter and commercial., flying in Canada. He is also, a full.member of the Society, of Automotive Engineers, of which there are 0n1y.25 members in Canada.. ■ ..
