Mr. J. W. Beanland, Mayor of Christchurch, arrived in Wellington from the south this morning. . Major-General Duigan, Chief of the General Staff of the New Zealand Military Forces, will leave Wellington for the north by the Limited express tonight. Professor O. S. H. Reinecke, accompanied by Mrs. Reinecke, will leave Wellington for the north by the Limited express tonight. Mr. K. M. Griffin, Government Analyst at Auckland, who is investigating methods of sewage disposal and prevention of water pollution abroad, spent a month studying the system and plants in operation in London. He had already examined methods in use in America and on the Continent. After further investigations in England he will set out on his return journey by the Oronsay on December 18. Mr. Alan Pike, of the Commercial Bank of Australasia, Ltd.,. Wanganui, has been transferred to Wellington. Mr. Pike is well-known as a concert singer. Mr. Martin Crighton, clerk to the Kaponga Town Board, has been appointed secretary of the Hawera Public Hospital Board. There were flfty-ona applicants. . Mr. J. Holmes was last night elected secretary and treasurer of. the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motorboat Association in succession to Mr. R. H. Rolle, whose resignation, after three years in the two -positions, 'was received with regret. Mr. H. Stutter was elected racing secretary. Mr. A. Fels, head of the foreign trade department of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce., is to visit New Zealand. He is at present in Australia and will .be there' for two or three months. His intention is to study conditions in New Zealand and in Australia with a view tb' bringing about increased trade with Poland. Mr. J. Roberts, secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' • Federa= tion, returned from Auckland today. Mr. W. Burton, general manager of John Fuller and Sons and the FullerHayward Theatre Corporation, arrived by the Limited express from Auckland today. General Sir Reginald Pinney, who is now in Australia, is ■ coming to New Zealand to visit his 'son. :He commanded the 33rd and 35th Divisions in France. Mr. F. G. Farrell, president of the Automobile Association (Auckland), was appointed a director of the North Island Motor Union Mutual Insurance Company at a meeting of the 'council of the association last night. Mr. J. T. Spears (Wellington) has been elected president of the New Zea= land Manufacturers' Federation. Mr. H. B. Duckworth (Christchurch) is vice-president for the ensuing year, and Mr. J. Abel (Wellington) treasurer.
