AMATEUR ATHLETICS
COUNCIL MEETING
A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last night, Mr. R. W. McVilly presiding. The Whakatane A.A.C., which was reported to be out of action, was disaffiliated. The Birkenhead-Northcote A.A.C., which has joined the Calliope Harrier Club, was disaffiliated, and the combination is now to be known as the Calliope Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club.
F. J. Oliver applied for reinstatement as an amateur, but it was decided that the council.could only grant him permission to act as an official.
The Otago Centre was given permission to invite Broadway, Boot, and Matthews to an athletic meeting to be held on January 15. Regarding persons travelling with the British Empire Games team, it was stated that there would be no accommodation for them on the boat or at the village where the team was to stay.
