HUTT CRICKET
WICKETS AT NAENAE
CLUB COMPLAINTS
"I think the Taita Club is under a misapprehension regarding the attitude of this executive," said Mr. J. E. Wilson, chairman of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association, at last nights meeting of the management committee, when discussing1 a reply from the club regarding the condition of No. 3 wicket at Naenae Reserve, about which a complaint was lodged by the Trafalgar Park Club to the association and forwarded to the Taita Club, to whom the.wicket concerned is .sub-let. The Taita Club's letter stated that its committee had given the fullest consideration to the condition of the wickets this season. The attention of the .association's committee, was drawn to the unsatisfactory state of the wickets prior to the commencement of the season, when adverse ■ comment was made on the failure of the Lower Hutt .Borough Council to give adequate preparation to the wickets. The Taita- Club's committee failed to understand why the association's chairman, Mr. J. E. Wilson, was content with the explanation given on behalf of the council.
In reviewing the position, the Taita Club thought it would be better if it had nothing more to do with the wickets, and it therefore requested the association, to cancel the allocation of the wickets to the club.
"I am of the same Opinion as the chairman," said Mr. H. A. N. Bramley, who attributed much of the Taita Club's dissatisfaction to the fact that one of its teams was being asked unavoidably to travel and play on wickets possibly as bad, if not worse, than the Naenae wickets.
"The main root of the trouble as far as Taita is concerned is that 'the club has an idea that the association is shelving all the responsibilities on to the club. Who knows what acci: dent might, occur on such wickets?" said Mr. F. Cooper, who added that facilities for. preparation were not of the best. Lack of suitable top-dress-ing was a big handicap. Mr. C. G. Wrack said that the association had to take some action when complaints were received and the action in sending the complaint to the Taita Club was only what would have been .done in any other similar position. Two seasons ago the Naenae wickets were as good as any in the Hutt Valley, added Mr. Wrack, and he suggested that the only remedy under the existing conditions was plenty of water. A motion that the Taita Club be asked to reconsider its decision, which was made under a misapprehension, was passed. OTHER BUSINESS. .' : The Wairarapa Association notified that providing .a wicket could be secured it would be able to accommodate a colts' team at Masterton oil New Year's Day. Nominations for the colts team (20 years and under) are to be called for immediately. They will close with the secretary (Mr. H. N. Jones) on Tuesday next. Mr. J. E. Wilson will be manager-captain of the team.

The secretary reported that t twelve affiliation fees were outstanding.
The WanSEmui Association notified that a fixture between the two associations this Christmas was impossible.
