The King has approved the appointment of Sir Harold Mac Michael to be High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief for Palestine and High Commissioner for the Transjordan, in succession to Sir A. Wauchope, who will relinquish his appointment at the end of February.
Sir Harold Mac Michael has been Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Tanganyika Territory since 1934. He is 57 years of age, He joined the Sudan Political Service in 1905 and was successively Inspector in the provinces of Kordoian, Blue Nile, and Khartoum, political and intelligence officer with the Expeditionary Force which reoccupied Darfur in 1916, subGovernor of Darfur Province, assistant Civil Secretary, and Civil Secretary 0926-34). He was knighted in 1932, and is the author of several works on the Sudan and Tanganyika.
