(Received December 2, 10 a.m.) LONDON, December 1. ' "A boxer's first duty is to the public, and should outweigh other considerations. He ought to stay out of the ring if he is unfit," says the "Daily Mail's" sports gossip writer in criticising the New Zealand boxer Maurice Strickland for not disclosing his lack of fitness before his fight with Delaney.- Thewriter adds: "Strickland had only, himself to blame for not improving his heavyweight claims." ■ Strickland is suffering from gastroenteritis, and is spending several days in bed.' He says that he is ready to fight the British Empire champion, Tommy Farr, at any time.
