Reports from the divisions were most

' encouraging. It was- stated that support' was now forthcoming from all classes of the community, "as the effects of the rising cost of living were being felt in all quarters. The women's section reported that all over New Zealand housewives were having a difficulty in meeting the increased prices for many necessities. Many workers employed in industries were becoming increasingly apprehensive as to their position in industry. Reports showed that the Government's legislation would almost inevitably result in many dismissals, from local industries.

The following resolution was carried With' acclamation:—''The National Party congratulates the Hon. Adam Hamilton on his work as leader of the party and assures him of the party's loyalty and unswerving support." ; ■ The nominations of the following selected candidates were' endorsed by the leader of the party and the Dominion Council:—The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, M.P. (Manawatu), Mr/ J. R. Kerr, LL.B. (Nelson), and Mr. T. L. MacDonald (Mataura).
