A.I.F. ASSOCIATION

FAREWELL TO PRESIDENT

Mr. James Payne, who has been in New Zealand since 1934 as Assistant Trade Commissioner for the Australian Government, and who is also president of the A.I.F. Association of ex-service-men, is being farewelled by his comrades on Saturday night at a smokeconcert. Mr. Payne, who served during, the war with the Australian Light Horse, has identified" himself closely with all Australian ex-soldiers in the Dominion, and he has done a great deal to promote the activities of the association, particularly in its benevolent work for the less fortunate members. The function promises to be most successful and members are expected to be present in force from Wellington and the provinces.
