ON TRENTHAM TRACKS
OTAKI CANDIDATES
CUDDLE'S HOLIDAY PLANS
(By "Rangatira.") Trentham stables have over twenty horses in the fields for the Otaki Maori Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Otaki on Saturday, and the usual share of the stake-money should be secured for the centre. The weather this morning was ideal for the galloping, which was done on the plough, but the majority of the horses were not required to go- in earnest against the watch, as they have all done plenty of recent work and are fit. Sunee (L. T. Nesbitt), the centre's solitary candidate for either of 'the open events, was sent seven furlongs in company with Good Sun (EL Hitchen), whom he beat by half a •length in Imin 29 3-ssec, the last halfmile in '50 ,2-ssec. ' It was a good gallop by both horses.. Cricket1 .(R. A. Dobson) was a shade in front of Debham (C. Burgess), at the end of a serviceable six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec.
Happy Heels (S. Wilson) was soon clear of Roaming (L. Faulkiner) in their five furlongs, and he ran home four lengths in front after taking 49 3-ssec for the .last half-mile. . Both horses look in excellent order.
The best half-mile of the morning was registered by Jewish Lad , (R. Hawes), who slipped over the distance in 49 l-ssec.
Siegmund (P. Burgess) and Mother-in-La'w (J. McCauley) ran five furlongs together in lmin' 6s.ec, ' the last halfmile, in 52 2-ssgc, but they were not extended. Fairy Dale (S". R. Farland) beat Informer (W. Doyle) over five furlongs, the last half-mile in 51sec. Free Gold (A. Sim) was doing it well a length ahead of Revival (W. Doyle) after covering a similar 'distance, the last half-mile, in 51sec.
Tr'ebor (Farland) comfortably beat Polabian (Hawes), with Gabriel (J. Nicholson) three lengths' back, after running five furlongs in lmin 6sec, the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec.
.Others to go against time were Rockingham, best half-mile in 51 3-ssec. Phil and. Dissipation, half-mile in. 50sec, Protectress and . Quexona, half-mile in 52sec, White. Lady, halfmile in 52sec. Defoe filly and Beauly. three furlongs on the grass in 36 3-ssec, and Peerless, half-mile the reverse way round in 49 4-ssec.
Boomerang (A. Bennet), resuming fast work, ran a .pleasing mile alone in lmin 42 3-ssec, taking 50 2-ssec for the first half and 52 l-ssec for the last half. He is unlikely to go north for the Auckland CUp, but will probably race nearer home over the holi-1 days. . . .....
Among those out doing strong work, in readiness for.Otaki were the jumpers Camilla Horn . (who was schooled with,Polabian yesterday). and Southern. Blood; also Lustral, Haupongij SUnny Blonde; Dancing Flame, Raroa, and Impersoriater. Alunga and Galteemore, who raced at Feilding, were' exercised only. .
Though Cuddle has been scratched for the Auckland Cup., she maly;,. .stillgo. north for .the two w.f.a. races., on the programme. Meanwhile, however, she is to be nominated for the Wairarapa Cup, for which the weights are due' on December .14, and ,-4-t is possible that she will remain' .Jaorrie for that £600 event. " ■■ <v:
