A visit to Nelson and the principal West Coast towns to investigate a number of pension cases will be made this month by the Commissioner of Pensions (Mr. H. Digby Smith). The dates fixed for the visit are as follows:—Nelson, December 14; Westport, December 16; Hokitika, December 20; Greymouth, December 21.

The Minister of Pensions CV.ie Hon. W. E. Parry) stated today that the time and place in each of the four districts mentioned at which the Commissioner could be seen by applicants and pensioners would be advertised in the local newspapers.

"The object of the Commissioner's visit to the West Coast," Mr. Parry said, "is to give applicants for pensions, or pensioners who are not satisfied with the decision in their claims, an opportunity of discussing their cases personally with the ' Commissioner. A while ago Mr. Digby Smith visited th.c centres of the North and South Islands went into very many pension claims. The investigations then made removed doubts in the minds of numbers of applicants that their cases had not been fully dealt with.
