INVITATION FROM CITY
The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, also expressed his pleasure at the arrangements made for the visit of the Centaurus to Wellington and the hope that it would be possible to overcome the time difficulty mentioned by Mr. Gatty, and so make possible a visit of the Pan-American Sikorsky flying-boat as well.
Presumably, said Mr. Hislop, the Pan-American Clipper ship would arrive in Auckland and would leave on her way back to Honolulu some days before the Imperial Airways machine made her first call in New Zealand, sb there would on this occasion be no opportunity to- see both machines together. Wellington, however, could be relied upon to extend the double welcome with a real enthusiasm.
The City Council had earlier extended to the Pan-American Airways Company a warm invitation to.pay a visit, and, on behalf of the citizens of Wellington, he again 'renewed that invitation. ,
