TAX COMMISSIONER

MR. J. M. PARK APPOINTED

It was announced by the Public Service Commissioners today that Mr. J. M. Park, Deputy" Commissioner of Taxes, had been appointed Commissioner of Taxes in succession to Mr.

C. E. Dowland, who retired in August. Since September, Mr. Park has been Acting Commissioner. ■ -

Mr. Park was born at Waitaki, and was educated at the Glenavy Public School, of which he was dux in 1900, and at the Waimate High School. He joined the Land and Income Tax Department in 1902, at Wellington.; He became section clerk in 1919, and chief assessor in 1928. In 1932 he was appointed Deputy Commissioner, a position he now relinquishes to take up his new office, as from December 1. His home is ■at Seatoun.
