JEAN BATTEN TOASTED
LONDON. November 24.
"It is impossible adequately to pay tribute to this great woman who has done so much for civil aviation," said Lord Sempill, former chairman of the Royal Aeronautical . Society, toasting Miss Jean Batten at the annual dinner of the Women's Automobile Sports Club, "for her achievements have added glory to the women pioneers in aviation. Her feats and those of FlyingOfficer Clouston are an honour to New Zealand."
Those present included Sir Malcolm Campbell, Lieut-Colonel Mooro-Braba-zon, the first man to make a power iilight in England, and Miss Amy Johnson. The Lord Mayor of London, Sir Harry Twyford, and Lady Twyford gave a reception for Miss Jean Batten this afternoon. Mrs. W. J. Jordan, wife of the New Zealand High Commissioner, was present.
