PIGEON RACING
The Wellington Central Pigeon Club conducted three races recently. The first was the P,almerston North Jubilee race, the birds being liberated by Mr. J. Furcell, secretary of the Manawatu Pigeon Club, and the second was I a lone bird interval from Ohakune, the birds being liberated by the stationmaster.- The third was from Whangarei, the birds being liberated by the stationmaster at 5 a.m. Results are as follows:—Palmerston North.—Mr. F. C. Ferris's "Lady Margaret," 1376.1 yd, 1; Messrs. Webb Bros? "Lady in Blue," 1353.7yd5, 2; Mr. M. G. Smith's "Winning Star," 1352.3yd5, 3. Ohakune (one bird interval, 140 miles) .—Messrs. Webb Bros." "Beautiful Terms," 3h 50min 38sec, 1; Mr. F. C. Ferris's "Race Call," 4h 22min 23sec, 2; Mr. M. G. Smith's "The Trump," 5h 43min 47sec, 3; Messrs. Dickey Bros.' "Irish Lass," 9h 41min, 13sec, 4. Whangarei (397 miles airline).—Messrs. Dickey Bros.' ''Erin Queen," llh 45min 26sec, 1; Messrs. Webb Bro*.' "King's Guard," 12h <53min. 56sec 2. (Only birds timed in on day). On Saturday the club will hold two races, the first being the New Zealand Federation race for the Patterson Cup. This race is competed for by all affiliated clubs in New Zealand,, all birds having to fly a distance of 300 miles or over, •
