MAJESTIC THEATRE.

•'NljrM Must Fall."

"Night Must Fall" opens .at the Majestic Theatre on Friday with Robert Montgomery and Rosalind Russell in the leading 'roles. "Night Must Fall" was a London stage play and Montgomery suggested that his studio adapt it fora picture. That is an ordinary procedure, but the extraordinary phase: vitas Montgomery's eagerness to pay the leading role. The part is that of a pathological killer who commits mitrder with the least of reason but the most of cunning. For a star of heroic roles to deliberately choose such a part Was daring and, in the light of his subsequent performance, highly commendable. Montgomery has brought to the screen something that never appeared there before. He has-talented co-operation from Miss; Eusseir and a highly "capable cast of supporting players. "Night Must.i-.Fall": is not a,, mystery, story.. On the cOnh'ary, the audience knows in advance; that it is watching the. criminal, even before he conceives his next act of violence.- The result is fascinating and remarkably effective as a thrill producer. -M.G.M. brought over some of the players from the London1 stage play who appeared there, for 55 consecutive weeks. These include Dame May Whitty, Merle Tottenham, Matthew Boulton, and Kathleen Harrison. Others who score are Alan Marshall and Es E.. Clive. Hunt Stromberg produced the picture and Richard Thorpe directed. John Van Druten, author of "Young Woodley" and adaptor of "Parnell" for the screen, wrote the scenario.
