RUGBY LEAGUE
POACHING OF PLAYERS
(Received November 17, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.
At a meeting of the New South Wales Rugby League criticism was expressed in regard to the poaching cf Australian players by wealthy English clubs, which led to an indifferent display by^ the present touring Australian team and a falling off in the attendances in Australia. It was decided to recommend that the Australian Board oi Control should ask the English Rugby League to reimpose the ban on the importation of Australian players. , t The opinion was expressed that New Zealand was bound to suffer in the same way. and it was therefore decided to seek the co-operation of the New Zealand League in the request for the reimposition of. the ban.
