A pleasing ceremony took -place during the meeting, when Miss •Maddever was presented with a gold Honours Badge. As all the institutes shared, in the presentation it had been intended to present the badge at the half-yearly council meeting held '■ at Johnsonville 'last month, but owing -to ■ Miss Maddever being absent from Wellington it was decided that the, presentation should take place at her own institute.

The prtaes were;-presented by Miss Kane. The "Best Flower for. Month" competition was won by Mrs. Turner, "Thrift" by Mrs. Prestidge, and an open competition by Miss Kenyon. A doll dressed and donated by Mrs. McMurray was won by Mrs. France. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.

The Drama Circle also • held a very enjoyable social afternoon recently in the church hall, Mesdames McMurray (convener), Alsop, and France being in charge of the programme. The Glee Singing Circle (under the leadership of Mrs. Gibson-Young) rendered some very pleasing items. Competitions were won by Mesdames Chivers, Lawrence, and Moye. Games, afternoon tea, and a rdll-call followed. The Gardening Circle spent a delightful afternoon .in - the garden of Mrs. Hardwick Smith's' home at Belmont. The rockery proved a great-at-traction. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Hardwick Smith, who provided a dainty afternoon' tea.
