TWO HOSTESSES

A DELIGHTFUL AFTERNOON

A particularly. delightful afternoon was spent yesterday in the club rooms in the T. and G. Building when Mrs. W. L. Ward and Mrs. H. P. Hopkins were joint hostesses and entertained a very large gathering of friends. The lounge was decorated with lovely flowers, the roses coming in for special admiration. A mixed bowl in the centre was a picture with long delphiniums, irises, love-in-a-mist, and smaller flowers* all intermingled with delicate greenery. The mantelpiece was fragrant with crimson, pink, and cream roses, and round the room were smaller bowls with flowers that represented "high summer" and were much admired. In the dining-room, where an excellent sweet and, savoury tea was served, the tables were decorated with large bowls of scarlet sweet peas, pink and cream ones, as well as a bowl of fine, roses on the centre table.

Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Hopkins received their guests, Mrs. Ward wearing a reception frock of pinky beige lace

slightly patterned with brown and a pink shoulder posy. Her wide brown straw; hat was of lacy, straw with a narrow band. Mrs. Hopkins's graceful gown was of black georgette, slenderly cut and slightly trained, and she wore, a picture hat of black French sisal with a black motif. They were assisted in entertaining by many friends, and the party was greatly enjoyed by all the guests. *
