DAVIS CUP

GERMANY'S CHALLENGE

(Received November 17, 2.20 p.m.)

BERLIN, November 16.

Herr Schoenborn, the "Fuhrer" of the German Lawn Tennis Federation, says that the Davis\Cup zone in which Germany will challenge will not be decided before January 31.

Herr Schoenborn plans a great effort to capture the cup and is searching for young talent, the training of which will be entrusted to F. Henkel, brother of the Davis Cup player.

A writer in the London "Telegraph" recently suggested that Germany would exercise her prerogative of challenging in the American zone for the Davis Cup. "There are obvious advantages from the German viewpoint," he said, "as the matches are fewer and they begin later; also, instead of mixing sand and turf in an exacting Euro-1 pean four, they would remain"'on turf until the Davis Cup quest is over."
