HUTT VALLEY SHOW
The Hutt Valley Rose Show is being held in the Horticultural Hall, Laings Road, Lower Hutt, today, and; will be continued this evening. • The 'season has been an excellent one, and the roses entered for competition are of very high quality, even for the Hutt Valley, which is noted for its flowers. .The garden circle has an interesting exhibit in the shape of four' stands. For the purpose of -competition, the Hutt Valley has been divided into north, south, east, and west districts, each of which has provided a stand of high quality. The reserves .committee of the Borough Council has a stand 'Of cut flowers. Mr. H. Poole has a stand, principally of pot plants^ early hydrangeas, and orchids. Mr. C. F. Pilcher has a stand of self-co- mred sweet peas of special quality, ktr. L. L. Reader is showing a stand of English ferns, and Mr. A. McMillan a stand of flowering shrubs. A unique plant,' a North American ladies' slipper, is being shown by Mr. Hoggard. There are the usual stands for the sale of flowers, and a specially decorated tearoom. :'--■-'
