TAXES AND PENSIONS

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I am one of those people on a small income referred to in a sub-leader in Saturday's paper. We receive a fixed income of slightly over £104 per annum and are compelled to pay 8d in the £ wages tax, also 20s annual levy. If I drew £104 only I would not be called upon to pay anything, but receiving a few pounds over that amount have to pay on the whole lot. The old age pension couple receive more than we do and do not pay anything. I thought our Socialistic Government which professes so much would give relief in cases like mine.— I am, etc., JUSTICE.
