RACES AT PAREMATA

Excellent feather was experienced1 for the usual Sunday yacht races at Paremata. '; ... . ~ ■. There was a light northerly breeze; blowing when the Takapunas started, but it was barely enough to carry the boats along. Noleen, who was first away with a handicap of 2min, led all the way round until she was becalmed in Browns-Bay; then Robin, taking a course more into the centre of the bay, came through."to win comfortably.- v Results:—Eobin (lmin), 1; Mane (scr), 2; Noleen (2min), 3. . The combined first class and Idle Along race drew a good field of eight. The Watti, who came down from Plimmerton to get in a little practice for the Sanders Cup trials, .started off scratch and-finished, third, but as^she is not a Paremata boat she isnot included in the results. The Kotuku, who was carrying a new sail, led .lor the biggest part of the course,,but was not quite fast-enough to beat the Lois which was out. for her :flrst spur or the season. ■ The. new Idle Along, Vixen with a new set- of saijs, did well to finish fourth. This was her first race. The result was:—Lois -(scr), l, Kotuku (2fnin), 2; Dora C3min). 3, Vixen (3imin), 4; Pitirmo (3min), 5, Kuini (ljmin), 6; lanthe (6mm), 7. Trials to select a crew for the cornwell Cup contest were held on, Sunday afternoon, but no decision was reached and further, trials will be held, on Saturday. afternoon.
