PROTEST FROM LOWER HUTT

The Hospital Board last night advised the Lower Hutt Borough Council of its intentions with regard to increased expenditure. ' The Mayor (Mr. J. W. Andrews) said he thought the council should again protest against the expenditure on the ground that if the needs of. the Hutt. Valley for a hospital had been met, | the expenditure would: not be necessary. I Councillor W. B. Raines moved ac-, cordlngly, ■with the addition that the' council should ask the Loans Board not to sanction the loan in view of the needs of the Valley. The Mayor slated that on a pre; vious occasion the council had asked the Loans Board to hear its objection, but the board had passed .the loan without advising the council. Councillor Raines said tlie financial burden the council would be saddled with was a matter for serious consideration. The motion was carried unanimously.
