BABY ABANDONED
Attracted by the sound of whimpering on the verandah of their house in Buick Street at 11 o'clock last night some Pe'tone residents found a newlyborn male child. The police were notified and placed the child in the care of a nurse.' There is every indication that the baby will live. The baby, which is healthy and welldeveloped, weighs 71b 13oz, and when found was wearing a napkin and a white woollen singlet and was wrapped in an old white flannel petticoat and a woman's pocketless, dark brown cardigan. " ' • ■ ■ . ■ The police would welcome any information which might lead to the identity of the mother.
