I hope youiill had a veryjolly lime.. • , / don't suppose many of you know that Guy Fawkef, Vfiy/ used to be known as Queen Elizabeth's Day. This is hgw' it came about. Long before Guido Fawkes tried to t blow up the Houses, of Parliament the people used to have merry times on Queen Elizabeth's Day, November 17. There were many people -. who Mere, very fond of, Queen Elizabeth, so a special day was set aside,for enjoyment, and they named it after her. When Guido s plot was discovered in time to prevent terrible things from happening the people were so thankful that they felt they must make;a- holiday of the. day when the plot was found out, so they decided to alter the dale of Queen Elizabeth's Day, and to have the celebrations for the two reasons on one , rfa^T^ '• November 5.
