TOO MUCH HOSING

CONCERN IN PETONE

Concern is expressed by the Petone Borough Council at the excessive^rawoff of water which has been brought about by the continued spell of fine weather. At 2 o'clock in the morning one day last week the reserve tenk at Korokoro went dry, indicating that a large number of hoses must have been left running all night. One Korokoro resident not connected with the borough supply has asked to be supplied with water, as his tanks are dry. The cost of pumping the water for this extra draw-off is running the Borough Council into considerable expense. Summonses are about to be issued in cases where hoses were left running unattended. The bylaws require that the hose .must be held in the hand.
