THE LORRY MURDER

POLICE CONVINCED

WORK OF WOOL THIEVES

MELBOURNE, November 4.

There are no major developments in the lorry murder mystery. The police are satisfied that the driver, John Dempsey, was murdered by a gang of wool thieves who apparently have a "receiver" somewhere in the city, as the wool on Dempsey's truck could not be disposed of under its original brands and in its original bales. Altogether 25 bales were stolen. Thefts of wool from transport trucks plying between the country and the city have been rather frequent lately. The procedure usually is to steal the' wool while the trucks are slowly ascending steep gradients, the bandits mounting the trucks in darkness and tossing the bales off.
