COUNCIL CONSIDERATION

Standing orders were suspended in the Legislative Council yesterday afternoon to enable a number of local and private Bills to be passed at the sitting. The measures had reached the second reading stage and were put through the remaining stages in a fairly short time. The local Bills passed were the Ngaruawahia Borough Council Empowering Bill (the Hon. B. Martin, Auckland), the Auckland Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Bill- (the Hon. T. Bloodworth, Auckland), the Motueka Borough Council Empowering Bill (the Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, Nelson), and the New Plymouth Borough Council Empowering Bill (the Hon. J. McLeod; Taranaki). . ■ The private Bills were the Nelson Diocesan Trust Board Empowering Bill, the Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees Church of England Empowering Bill, the Hamilton Parsonage Site Amendment Bill, and the Church of England Trusts Amendment Bill.
