Sequel to accident

Damages totalling £2052 were awarded by a jury on a" three-quarters majority to ■ Henry Alexander Kay, farm labourer, Greendale,' at the conclusion of the hearing in the Supreme Court today of his claim against Arthur Walter Andrews, Opawa, truck driver. ,■■/ \ ■:'..: _ . The claim, which was for £2500, arose from a collision between a : motorcycle ridden by the plaintiff and a motor-truck and trailer driven by the defendant at the intersection of the Darfield-Burnham road and _ the Bealey road to Hororata. Mr. C. S. Thomas, with him Mr. E. E. England, appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. D. W. Russell for the defendant. Negligence on several grounds, among them failure to give way to a vehicle approaching on the right, was alleged by the plaintiff. It was claimed that, because ol: his injuries, he had been so disabled as to be made unfit to follow his occupation as teamster or ploughman. _
