Mr. A. E. Hargreaves,' whose appointment to a position as an assistant district traffic manager at Wellington was recently announced, joined the railways as a cadet in the traffic departr ment at Invercargill in 1900., He was subsequently located-at various stations in the Invercargill district, and was subsequently clerk at Featherston, Wellington, Woodville, and Nelson. In 1913 he was appointed stationmaster at Glenhope, an^d occupied similar positions subsequently at.Belgrove, Wakefleld, and Nelson Port. In ,1925 he was appointed to the position of clerk in the district traffic manager's office at Wellington, and he was train-running officer there from 1928 to 1932, when he was appointed transport officer in the same office. In 1933 Mr..Hargreaves was appointed goods agent at, Wellington, a position he has continued to.occupy until his present promotion to assistant district traffic manager. : i •
